We had a fantastic day photographing Clay + Melissa’s wedding! Here they are, in their own words!

Where did you meet your fiancé?

We met at a Nashville fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis – Wine & Swine. Our friends set us up with dates for the evening – but, not with one another! Our respective dates didn’t work out, so we ended up speaking at the event and realizing that we have numerous mutual friends! The rest is history…

Was it love at first sight?

Sure? I don’t think either of us believe in “love at first sight” (how unromantic!); however, I think we both knew fairly early in the relationship that the other was “the one.”

Where did you get engaged?

We got engaged on the side porch of Clay’s mother’s childhood home in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. It was perfect because I didn’t get great cell phone service – Instead of calling people for the next few hours, we were actually able to enjoy being engaged!

Favorite Southern City?

Nashville, of course!

Favorite part of a wedding day?

As a bride, the “first look” – I’m really looking forward to that moment! At a guest, I enjoy dancing to the band!

How would you describe your wedding day style?

Romantic, I would think! I bit rustic, but definitely romantic.

What are two of your favorite qualities about each other?

My mother once told me that she asked my dad what his favorite quality was about her when they were first married. He apparently said, “I like that you work.” How weird, right? I’ve asked Clay the same question and received pretty much the same response – but now I get it! He likes that I’m a hard worker, ambitious and very much have a “I’ll do it myself” attitude. Likewise, my favorite quality about Clay is that he is steadfast, patient and worry-free. He has a strong faith that things will work out according to plan. He’s also very witty!
