Family Vacation | personal

It was one amazing and busy summer for the our family. We were privileged to photograph 18 weddings, catch fireflies, grew tons of tomatoes, zucchini, blueberries, and kale, canned 45 jars of strawberry preserves. We kept 2 pet grasshoppers, 8 princess tea-parties, hosted lots of family from out of town. We picked blackberries from our backyard and made 2 batches of jam from them. Lola learned how to get her daddy to stop working by asking him to dance, and Jack started Kindergarten (though I am still having a hard time with this!). So when we had an opening in our schedule in September, we jumped at the chance to get out of town for a bit!

I have been going to this same beach since I was about 8 years old, and there is something special about the sunsets here…the locals actually clap when the sun fades into the ocean every night, as if it didn’t happen just the same the night before. We laughed a lot, saw our first manatee in the wild, kayaked all together, and saw countless dolphins playing in the surf. We made sand-castles, watched the sunset every night, and just stood back, thankful for the chance to breathe. Here is a little recap, all shot on a Rolleiflex 2.8 E camera, circa 1958. Some things never go out of style. Family time is something that we cherish. ~Lindsey
