For our good…

I spent most of last week taking Lola to doctor’s appointments, hospital visits, and having numerous tests. Some of the hardest ‘mommy moments’ come  when you have to hold your child down while they scream, beg, and try to wriggle free so the doctors can do their work. I shed many tears watching her cry. Why do we do it?

We do it because we know that it’s for their own good and to help them get better. We put our faith in doctors and nurses and stand firm knowing that God’s promises are true and He does have a hope and a future for our children. The correlation between this and our relationship with Christ parallels so perfectly. Sometimes, we have to be held still in places that are uncomfortable, scary, and even seemingly dangerous for us. However, I know that it is for our own good, in order to shape us into the people who God already knows we are. The same is true for our children.  So this Monday, take heart mothers and parents out there. Know that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7). Sometimes we will have to endure difficult situations, but be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go ( Joshua 1:9), and He will direct our paths, if we ask Him. (Proverbs 3:6). He will make a clear way in the desert (Isaiah 43:19) and remember that He has told us these things, so that we may have peace. In this world we will have trouble. But take heart, God has overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

I hope this encourages or uplifts someone today!

God Bless.
